In the days before we allowed the machines to choose the music we listen to, before we became slaves to a soundtrack curated by Spotify algorithms, free human beings would share and discover new music by swapping cassette tapes. Each one painstakingly compiled in real time from singles, albums, Peel sessions and other people's tapes - defying stark warnings from the music industry that home taping was killing music. How little they knew of what was to come.

To celebrate the lost art of home taping, I've assembled the first of two volumes of personal favourites from the antigen archives. But I can't be bothered to record it on to tape, so it's available to download instead.
